Monetary Donations

Paws and Claws receives no financial support from any government agencies to cover the costs incurred in providing for the animals under our care. Most of our operational expenses are supported by donations from members of the Rochester community, and of surrounding communities. Without the generous support of these individuals and businesses, Paws and Claws would be unable to care for the animals that depend on us. 76% of our operational budget goes directly to animal care.

Monetary donations can be mailed to our office, or dropped off during business hours. Please make your check payable to "Paws and Claws Humane Society." Donations are tax deductible. Receipts will be issued for all donations over $250, and upon request for lesser amounts.

You may also now make Online Donations using a credit card.  If you wish for your donation to be used in a specific way, please indicate that in the Special Instructions field.

There are a variety of ways to donate to Paws and Claws. Donations can be made into any of the funds listed below, either in one's own name or in honor or memory of another individual or pet. All honorary and memorial donations will be recognized in our quarterly newsletter.

General Fund

This is the nonspecific fund used for any and all shelter related purposes. Money from the general fund goes towards everything from food and medical care for the animals, to paying the rent, utilities, and staff salaries.

Please specify "General Fund" on the memo line of your check or donate online through the button below.

Emergency Care Fund

Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for cats and dogs in our care to need extensive (and expensive) medical treatment due to sickness or injury. This fund exists to provide medical care for life threatening conditions that may arise in any of our shelter animals, making it possible for us to save an animal’s life and to relieve pain and suffering.

Please specify "Emergency Care Fund" on the memo line of your check or donate online through the button below.

Spay/Neuter Fund

The purpose of this fund is to fight the significant problem of companion animal overpopulation by providing for the costs of spay and neuter procedures of cats and dogs sheltered at Paws and Claws. Additionally, this fund sometimes serves to help defray the expenses of spay and neuter procedures of animals belonging to those residents of Rochester and surrounding communities who have demonstrated an inability to cover the procedure on their own.

Please specify "S/N Fund" on the memo line of your check or donate online through the button below.

Guardian Angel Program

Some animals that come to Paws & Claws take months to recover physically and emotionally from the neglect or trauma they suffered before coming to us. Some require extra time to find a home compatible with their needs. The expenses associated with caring for our animals needing extra care, rehabilitation, or extended stays are often more than our budget allows. These animals deserve a second chance.

The Guardian Angel program provides a way for you to contribute to the care and support of special needs cats and dogs and to form a personal bond with our shelter animals. For just $10 a month, you can sponsor one of the many animals at our shelter. You will receive a picture and information about your special animal twice a year. A new animal will be assigned to you when the one you are currently sponsoring is adopted.

To join the Guardian Angel program, please fill out the

Guardian Angel Enrollment Form.

Please specify "Guardian Angel" on the memo line of your check or donate online through the button below.
