Snow is a beautiful Pit Bull Mix who was found and came to Paws and Claws in active labor. Snow was obviously in distress and having a difficult time with her delivery. An emergent house call by a dedicated area veterinarian determined that Snow had been in labor for days. She was dehydrated, weak and unable to deliver the puppies on her own. With the help of the vet, caring staff and much needed fluids and medications, one-by-one, Snow delivered puppies. The duress of a prolonged labor was too much for the puppies and out of a litter of ten, only one survived. Snow’s surviving puppy, Miracle, started out life rocky, but she grew strong and moved into a loving home. Snow and Miracle were both spayed, helping break the cycle of abandonment and pet overpopulation. Now, Snow can have the kind of happy life in a loving home that every companion animal deserves. The expense of this and other emergency procedures are well beyond Paws and Claws budget. We know we can count on our supporters and their help in filling our Emergency Fund with dollars of love. If you can give a little or a lot, it all comes from your heart and we and our animals are forever grateful.
We have hope for animals like Snow and with your help, we expect each of them to have the chance at a full and healthy life. All of their care will be paid for through our emergency funds, and we are counting on you, our supporters, to help Snow and other cats and dogs with unexpected vet expenses.
You are the lifeline to our Emergency FundSnow is exactly the kind of animal that can be helped by our Emergency Care Fund. After helping care for recent litters of kittens, and other puppies and injured animals, our emergency funds are again nearly depleted. We need the help of our supporters to properly care for these animals and to make sure we are financially prepared to help the next animal that finds itself in need of emergency care.
Why There is a Need for an Emergency Care FundIt is, unfortunately, not uncommon for cats and dogs in our care to need extensive (and expensive) medical treatment due to sickness or injury--whether intentional or unintentional. We are able to pay for Snow’s treatment and those of animals in similar need through the resources of our Emergency Care Fund. This fund was established at Paws and Claws to help cats and dogs who have an urgent health issue making it possible for us to afford the needed care to help save an animal's life and relieve its pain and suffering.
So please, help us continue to care for those animals that need urgent or unexpected medical attention.
