  • We have served Southern Minnesota for over 40 years.
  • We are the largest and newest shelter in the eight surrounding counties.
  • We do not limit the length of stay for the animals in our care.
  • We are funded by donations, fundraising events, and modest adoption fees.
  • We currently have nearly 900 dues paying members.
  • Our community fund helps pay for the spaying and neutering of companion animals for those who cannot afford it.
  • We give over 100 tours and presentations annually, educating the public [including over 400 children] about proper animal care and the importance of spaying and neutering companion animals to help control the pet population in Southern Minnesota.
  • Many families that participate in the Guardian Angel Program [sponsoring animals] each month.
  • We will take in an injured animal and get the emergency medical care that it requires.
  • Local veterinarians help Paws and Claws by providing over 145 free spay or neuters each year.
  • In a typical year, we facilitate adoptions and provide care for over 1300 dogs and cats.
